October 2000

German music tv station Onyx has started on astra tp 60 on october 5th. Analogue, pal clear.

TCC Nordic have left their D2-MAC-TP (shared with Discovery). So the only analogue Channel for kids remaining are Time-Warners Cartoon Network, and Murdochs Nickelodeon and Fox Kids.

German music channel Viva started in analogue on Astra, using the former Galavasion tp (44) on october 1st. Viva 2 will follow eraly 2001.

September 2000

Sky News/National Geographics/Dot-tv have ceased in analogue on Thor. They will be replaced by the new danish station TV 2 Zulu. Official start will be on october 15th. TV 2 Zulu will be targeted to a young audience between 15 und 40 broadcasting films and new danish programming. There will be sports but no news.

July 2000

MTV UK and MTV BRD were not encryted today. No need for a decoder to watch MTV UK - but only for a few hours. MTV BRD is still not encrytped if received via Videocrypt-Decoder, so UK viewers are able to watch MTV Germany as well - for the time beeing. In Sweden the MTV picture is not incrypted, but the sound is. So you can listen to the music if you've got a paid card ...

May 2000

Beeb - Beep - beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep

As of june 6th BBC Prime will no longer be available in analogue. BBC Prime will close down on the scandinavian Hot Bird Position. Viewers will be forced to turn to Eutelsats cold duck position and join the cubic future of low quality digital transmissions ...

April 2000

New testcards for scandinavia

Three testcards have appeared on Sirius 3: they are on tps 14 (11.977/V), 15 (11.996/H)and 18 (12.054/V). They will be used - following lyngsat.com for digital packages from viasat. Analogue (D2MAC) transmission will cease 2002 latest. All full subscribers will get a receiver free of charge.

Bloomberg movements

Bloomberg german(y) has moved to tp 11 (11.361/H) and expanded their analogue transmissions to a round a clock service. Their time spot on tp 56 has been taken over by the english Bloom, berg service. Both in clear pal - yet.

Cold duck gets even colder ...

Polsat will switch to digital on eutelsats cold duck position very soon. The program will be free of charge but polish viewers will be charged 399 zloty for the activation of their viewing cards.

Polsat 2 has already been replaced by polish TV4, which will disappear behind encrpytion as well in the very near future.

March 2000

Going for less quality ...

A couple of services will leave the original astra position for the lowest quality digital "flatform". Apart from various murdoch channels, film four will force their analogue viewers to step over or die. Okay guys, lets go for the next video store to rent films!

Warning: Preachers ahead

Two analogue tps at 13 east are testing for event tv:
March 19 - 23, Pro Christ 2000, Bremen with Ulrich Parzany (who ever that might be) using a.o. two analogue tps on hot bird 5: tp 156 + tp 129

11.094/H Pal clear (former RTL2 tp)

(audio differs between live and taped broadcasting):

11.622/V pal clear (belgacom tp)

(audio differs between live and taped broadcasting):

New service

A testcard is shown on Sirius 3, tp 11 (11.919/H) announcing the start of viasat plus for march 17, 21:00 CET. (Eventually the return of tv plus from years ago?)

Testing, testing ...

There is still a pal (clear) "TEST" featuring Q24 on Sirius 2, tp 38 (12.438/V)

Februar 2000

New Quantum

Quantum 24 has started on Sirius 2, using the former TV8/Bloomberg/The History Channel tp. As of today Quantum 24 can be received in clear Pal on that frequency.(11.02.2000)

Moving all around ...

The channel mix of swedish TV8, Bloomberg and The History Channel has moved from Sirius 2 (Tp 38, 12.437/V) to Sirius 3 (Tp 6, 11.824/V). Transmission period was very short, now there is just a testcard with information about the new tp on Sirius 2.

Adult x follows Venus following Adult x

Venus TV has left the former BNL/Rendez Vous tp again. Adult x/Rendez Vous is now on that tp all day and night long.

Usingen follows Bulgaria

The writing on the black screen of the former TV Bulgaria tp on 13 east has changed. Nor more information about TV Bulgaria gone digital but instead about Deutsche Telekom - Usingen earth station.

Cold Duck gets colder again

As of 1 january 2000 eutelsats cold duck position (13 east) is one step nearer to freezing position. The analogue EDTV Dubai transponder is empty once again - this time for good? That leaves not very much apart from empty transponser on that position and one might ask what the hell eutelsats wants to fill a second socalled "Hot Bird Position" with.

January 2000

Sirius 1 retired

During the night (and TV4 Sweden later in the morning) services have moved from the old and weak Sirius 1 satellite to the new strong Sirius 3. Receiption is now a lot stronger for the following services:

Have fun - at least with TV4 - as long as it lasts.

New lyngsat service: All Free TV channels

At http://www.lyngsat.com/free/ you can now get regularly updated pages at LyngSat with all free/clear/FTA satellite TV channels listed per country.

Take a look and surf around there to see all free TV channels from currently 106 countries, totally around 800 TV channels. The countries are divided into 7 regions: Pacific, Asia, Middle East, Europe, Africa, South America and North America, to make it easier for you to find neighbouring countries.

The service lists logotypes (and links to SatLogo), home pages links, Sat-Address links, satellite names/links to LyngSat charts and video systems (PAL/SECAM/NTSC/D2-MAC/MPEG-2/Digicipher 1/2).

The satellite and video fields are coloured in the usual band and video colours used at LyngSat, so you easy can see if it's C/Ku and analog/digital.

The section will be updated at least once a week. USA and Canada are unfortuntely not included in this service, will maybe be added later. (source: lyngsat webmaster)

Dezember 1999

Bad taste at BBC World

During their socalled Millennium night, the makers of BBC World choose the Tiananman Place in Bejing to report from the chinese festivities. Bad taste, as on that very place the chinese dictatures have slaughtered hondreds of young students. But thats already forgotten in our modern business world, isn't it?

Sirius 3 on air ... not!

Sorry, we have to correct the news about Sirus 3 - it seems it was something like a test. At this very moment, all the Sirius 1 servicses are as weak as ever. Sorry.

Sirius 3 on air

As of 25th december Sirius 3 has replaced Sirius 1. Services until now barely receivable are very strong now. Merry Christmas :-)

Sirius 3 reached home

Eventually following a year long hold at astras second position, Sirius III has reached its home positiona at 5 degrees west. It will replace the very weak Sirius 1 satellite. This will result in stronger signals for Nickelodeon Nordic/TV6/Playboy TV (Tp16), VH-1 Export (TP4), TV4 Sweden (Tp12) and Z-TV (TP8).

November 1999

Back on air!

After beeing gone for a few days, EDTV Dubai is back on their analogue tp on 13 east. They look a bit different because they've changed their onscreen logo. (11-15-99)

Changes per 1. November

Afraid, there are bad news for friends of Emirats TV EDTV Dubai. As of today it is no longer broadcasted analogue from 13 east. The tp (11.745/H) has been switch off. Eutelsats Cold Duck position has reached near freezing temperatures.
For Sexviewers we can offer new naked women and "hot phone number". RDV-Erotica have expanded their programming using the former BNTV Tp (11.280/V) on 13 east: "Joy-TV".
Still a testcard showing on the former Fashion-TV-Tp at 13° east. Probably the for the longest time ever shown testcard? (entering the Guinness Book of Records?) Like testcards with Lario E/S written on it? Turn to 10.986/V an be happy. [Update: testcard is gone now, tp switched off]
TV Bulgaria has taken a rest (at least). The former RTL2-Tp at 13 east shows a testcard too. Followd by TV Bulgaria again or a new service for the western parts of europe eventually (TCM?) - we will wait and see. Our guess is TV Bulgaria or yet another "red hot phonechannel".

Still using the Belgacom-tp at 13 east: Simayeh Moghavenat starting at 17:30.
Turning to the nordic skies, TV2 Norge eventually have left their former Intelsat 707-tp (11.560), now only on their new Thor-Tp (11.260). The Tp on 707 is not used at the moment.

October 1999

New service for Sweden

Am Sonntag, 31 october 1999 starting at um 15:00 a new service for Sweden starts their regular programming a.o. analogue via Thor 3, Tp 18 (12.054/H). Broadcasted in D2-MAC/Eurocrypt ussing the former Nordic Granada (Plus) Tp.

K-World is a (popular-)Science Channel, broadcasting weekdays between 18:00 - 23:00 und an Sonn- und Feiertagen von 7:00 - 23:00 auf Sendung geht. Starting in january the channel will broadcast 30% slef produced programming. They teamed up with some swedisch universities. Among the prgram during the first few weeks are BBC Programs like 80 days around the world with/by Michasel Palin, Zoom, a awarded british popular science magazine, Eureka, Europa á la Carte (vol. 1 - 13, starting in Scottland), Modern Arts, Design Classics, Actors Studio, History of Fashion, Human Heritage, Musik of all fashion (Opera festivals, classic composers, Fascination Rhythm, History of Popmusic (BBC), Jazz, Live in Concerts of a.o. Herbie Hancock, Nature (Nature's Guards (Part 1: 7 november, 19:00: Guardian Angels of Himalaya), Animal Life), cultural places (a.o. Ganges)

Start on sunday at 15:00 broadcasting live a discussion about swedish school politics, science, universities and cultural life in Schweden. Provided one reads swedish, one can get further information by visiting the stations website at http://www.kworld.se. (Updatd 30.10.1999)

New Name für Radio 10 Gold

Dutch commercial radio station Radio Gold is to change their name on 1. november: Radio 10 FM. Maybe a change in "format" as well (like TV 10 has mutated to Murdochs Fox 8. One can listen to Radio 10 Gold all over (western) europe in via AM 675 (Updated 11.1.1999)

Maxi Cartoon for members only ...

The analogue mix of Cartoon Network and TNT Classic Movies will cease on october 15th. As of that day, there will be a changed programming with TCM replacing TNT on kabel systems and for the nordic countries in D2-MAC after hours. A tiny TNT break on astra tp 37 will show the canibal plus mix of film industrie promotion clips (behind the scenes, the making of), Wrestling and series like Hitchhiker or the Dukes of Hazzard. The new TNT will start at 21:00 british time with wrestling followed by two other programs - thats it. The remaining night belongs to Cartoon Network again. Viewers on the continent will be closed out again since as of 15th october astra tp 37 will be encrypted in videocrypt 1. (No surprise since TNT/Cartoon are part of the time-warner imperium.) Teletext schedules are now showing british time.

New testcard

The testcad on the former Nordic Granada tp on Thor has changed to a Telenor/Telia testcard and the station lable "test". The testcard is encrypted in d2-mac eurocrypt (for copyright reasons, we assume). As on the other telenor testcard (in pal) since a few days ago, there are no station logos at the moment. Frequency is 12.054.

TV2 still doubled

TV2 Norge should be on their new tp on Thor since 5th october. But at this moment TV2 Norge can still be seen on their Intelsat 707 tp. But they will leave that tp soon, so don't forget to tune to their new frequency.

TV Danmark mutates

News from the denish SBS channels as well. Following dutch sources (where SBS partly ownes two tv channels), a new station named TV Danmark will be launched. TV-Danmark then will mutate to TV2 Danmark 2 (including the local stations). SBS will start a TV Version and a softer radio version of their denish rock radio station The Voice. If any of these channels then will be broadcasting analogue via satellite - and if so, which one oth those - is uncertain. But since mega encrypter and paytv junkie Disney is boss at SBS' chances are all channels will be digital and pay tv.

TV 2 Norge on the move

Having problems revceiving TV2 Norge? Problem solved! As of today TV2 Norge is using the former Filmnet DK Transponder on Thor II. Until 5 october both frequencies will be used, after that period the former - weaker - transponder on Intelsat 707 will cease. In case you forgot the former Filmnet DK resp. future TV2 Norge frequency is 11.260. And: TV2 Norge broadcasts in D2-MAC / Eurocrypt.

... gone from beeing back???

Following some days of unabridged TV Bulgaria the former RTL2 swiss tp started a black screen without any channel logo. Following that TV Bulgaria returned. The POS and Liberty soundcarroers remain unchanged.

Keep it cold

Yepp, as we thought, Monte Carlo sat has left 13 east again - replaced by ... yepp a testcard!!!

Cold Duck News

Eventually interesting news for anlogue viewers who's dish is (a.o.) directed to eutelsats cold duck position at 13 east.
MC sat (Monte Carlo sat) has replaced TV Bulgaria on tp 21 U, 11.095 /H pal - until now - clear. Language is italian, but since they rebroadcast programming from US stations like H3O (Surf Channel) with original sound and a lot of music, it might be interesting to turn into that channel - as long as it lasts (and that's usually not very long on that very position).
TV soundchannel is 6,65 MHz, the remaining sound carriers still used by Point of Sale resp. RFE/Radio Liberty.

GE promo stopped

The GE classic music "tp to rent promotion clip" on Sirius 2, TP 1 has ceased. The tp seems to be empty again.

Scandinavian Shoppingnights

Eventually there is a new channel on the former TV-S DK transponder at 1 West. As of today scandinavian vierwers may shop around the clock thanks to Q(uantum) 24.

That channel is already on satellite - in pal clear from eutelsats cold duck position at 13 east. The scandinavian version (english and german on screen text, english sound) broadcasts via 11.389/H (Thor II, Tp 12) in D2-MAC.

No Caroline thanks to Flextech

Transmission pause from Radio Caroline on Astra was due to a "cockup" by Satellite-Uplink Provider Flextech tv. Caroline is back on astra as of saturday 8 th may. More about it on their website at:

Eros - Due North ...

As of today Eros was seen on GE-TP 1 of the skandinavian Sirius 2 (11.727/H, 5 East). Wait and see what's that all about. It now seems to be a trailer only for their cubical service on 13 East. It is regularily transmitted between 20:00 and 24:00 hours CET every day and is again rereplaced by the GE-Sirius-2-transponder-1-trailer.

Off

The testcard seen for some days on the former CNBC-Tp at 13 east has ceased too.
The Hot Bird Club has ceased in alalogue too as it seems - the former RTL2-tp showed TV Bulgaria all wednesday. There have been some bits of a Eutelsat at variuos times on that tp. Radio Caroline seems to have left astra - their subcarriers remained stumm this weekend. Rumors are Caroline will be back on AM. Turn to their website for more information.

Go east

13 degrees seems to loook for viewers moren and more in the eastern parts of europe. German RTL2 has been replaced by TV Bulgaria, including at least one radio station on 8.10. Its in Pal and not encryptetd - yet.

1 Mai - whats new, whats gone?

Nothing changed today on scandinavian satellites (all tetscards remained testcards). Minor changes on 13 east. CNBC has pleased cable companies and ceased in analogue on eutelsats cold duck. Another testcard on that position. Vox tp has shut down, no more testcard. The former RTL2-tp is used to broadcast an eutelsat promotion.

Good news for a change

Once in a lifetime there are good news again and people's interest win over money and shareholder value. Media Moloch Murdoch is not allowed to buy fottball club Manchester United. The minister in charge and the monopoly and mergers commission stated this might be negative for choice, viewers and puiblic interest. Right! Lets hope for a similar european rule for Canibal + and Co. Save our recreation.

Lesser choice ...

Again less choice for satellite dish owners. RTL2, Vox, Euronews and Fashion have left 13 degrees east in analogue. So if dishers want to watch these programs they have to go for the lesser quality of digital transmission - and to submit to the overall control of national governments and canibal + & Co.
